Yes, all chats and characters you create are private by default. Your persona cards are personal to your account and aren't publicly shared or reviewed by moderation.

Why does my character forget previous conversations?

Due to technical limitations, your character's memory has a capacity for conversations, so it may 'forget' older content. We're continuously improving our technology to remember more.
